As part of another promotion for this week's Why Pink Floyd? releases, EMI has launched an official YouTube channel for Pink Floyd. All week long, the channel will stream Dark Side of the Moon performed at Wembley Stadium in 1974. This is the same previously-unreleased performance included in the Experience and Immersion editions of the new DSotM release.

Pink Floyd week on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Posted by madhack on Sep 24, 2011

Talk show host Jimmy Fallon will celebrate Pink Floyd this week by featuring musical performances of the band's material on all five shows. Most notably, Roger Waters will join the Foo Fighters on Tuesday, Sep 27 for a performance of "In The Flesh". Other shows will feature the Shins, MGMT, Dierks Bentley, and Pearl Jam performing Floyd songs.

If you can't watch the shows, each should be available on the show's video page not long after it airs. Unfortunately, it's likely that the videos will be restricted to US viewers, but if any readers experience otherwise, we'd love to hear about it.

As noted on Pink Floyd's official site, EMI will be flying a replica of the famous pig Algie over Battersea Power Station to promote the new Why Pink Floyd? releases. If of our any readers in London or nearby are able to take a photo replicating the cover of Animals, we'd love to post it here for the world to see!

Posted by madhack on Sep 3, 2011

With the addition of shows on March 17 and 18, The Wall Live tour now has 8 concerts set for Buenos Aires. The bummer for Brazilian fans is that the new dates have started conflicting with shows there (Porto Alegre was originally set for March 17), but an email from RogerWaters.com indicates that all four Brazil shows will be rescheduled.

It's sadly out of my price range already, but an auction is ongoing for a a Fender Stratocaster with custom artwork inspired by Time and autographs from David, Roger, and Nick. There aren't any details on the guitar's specs, but that probably won't be the point for the buyer.

Proceeds will benefit UK homeless charity Crisis.

Australian dates announced for "The Wall Live"

Posted by madhack on Jun 25, 2011

The official tour page for The Wall Live has begin posting tour dates for Australia in early 2012. As usual, you can find those in our Tour section, as well, which we keep up to date as new shows are announced.

If history is any indication, it seems likely that extra shows will be added in each city if demand warrants it. Many US and Europe tour dates were added due to demand, and they've built in six days between each of the three dates announced so far.

1000 Weeks

The Dark Side of the Moon has re-entered the Billboard Catalog Album chart this week, coming in at a respectable #47. This marks the 1,000th week DSoTM has found itself listed on the Billboard charts. Considering the album was released in 1973, that the album would even came close to charting is impressive enough, let alone this amazing total of 1,000 weeks (with some 700+ weeks being consecutive). Congratulations, Pink Floyd!

Dark Side of the Moon: Greatest Album Cover of All Time

Posted by madhack on May 15, 2011

Music Radar has released a list of the greatest album covers of all time, with Dark Side of the Moon's at the top of the list. Seems like a good call.

Somewhat surprisingly, Floyd's only other entry on the list is Animals at number 10.
