Pink Floyd to reunite for Live 8
Posted by madhack on Jun 12, 2005
After many denials from the band's management, David Gilmour apparently decided Friday that he would like to get the band together for Live 8, according to Brain Damage, one of the most reliable sources out there. Adding credence to this story is a quote from Gilmour himself describing his reasons for wanting to participate and a report that Bob Geldof was the one who convinced Roger to talk to Dave.
The performance has also been confirmed by the official sites pinkfloyd.com (now owned by the band's management) and pinkfloyd.co.uk (owned by EMI Records).

"Ça Ira" Press Release
Posted by pulse on May 30, 2005
Roger Waters's long-awaited classical opera "Ça Ira" now has an official release date per Sony/Columbia Records. The "operatic history of the French Revolution" will hit store shelves September 27th, 2005. The first edition digipack sounds mouthwatering:
Full Opera On Two Hybrid SACDs, Bonus "Making Of 'Ça Ira'" DVD, & 60-Page Four-Color Booklet Containing Libretto, Cast Credits, & Original Illustrations.
Roger has been working on this musical opus since 1989. The original score was set to French text, but Roger states the English version has been in the works since 1997 and is more than a mere translation. He claims the spirit of the work is maintained and emphasizes "the human potential for change." You can read the official press release here.
New design, new forums
Posted by madhack on May 21, 2005
As you can clearly see, The Pink Floyd Fandom has a new design. Many thanks to Christian Williams for his hard work on it.
There's also a new forums system. Unfortunately, it would have proven too difficult to copy over the old board's contents, so we'll have to start from scratch. It should be much easier to use and more flexible, though.
Also available is an RSS feed of the Fandom's news page.
As always, you can report any problems to email@example.com.

Roger Waters in March edition of Mojo Magazine
Posted by pulse on Feb 10, 2005
In short, Roger says work on his opera "Ca Ira" is finished and submitted to Sony for distribution. He also discusses the theme will be "about revolution in general and the potential for human beings to evolve." He claims the production is not for his own live performance, but suggests an opera company may eventually feature it. The opera is 100 minutes in length, features three acts, and will be available in French and English. Additionally, Roger gives an update on his new rock album in the works. He states it is halfway complete and will be "very political in nature." We are to look for its release in 2006. Refreshing news, it has been too long since "Amused to Death." Mojo Magazine is available at news stands or you can order online.

Putting tour rumors to rest
Posted by madhack on Oct 23, 2004
Recently, something Nick Mason mentioned has been blown quite out of proportion, with rumors flying that Roger will be reuniting with the band for a tour. Unfortunately, an interview with Scottish TV has put the rumors to rest. When asked about the prospects of the band reuniting, Nick said:
"Well, I'd have to say it's very unlikely and I think possibly on one occasion I said something like this and it was misunderstood and everyone announced that the band was reforming in its original guise which definitely is not on the cards. What I said was I though the only thing that might draw us all together it would not be for a big tour or big money, it would be for the equivalent of a new Live Aid, something that was worthwhile that we all felt more important than everyone worrying about their ego, their career prospects or whatever. And it just would feel worthwhile enough to do something."
While the editors here would be as happy as any other Floyd fans to see a reunion and tour, it simply does not appear to be a likelihood.
